Mediation fee Schedule

Mediation · Fee Schedule · Schedule I

Mediation fees, known before you begin

FEAM mediation is priced simply: a modest registration and administrative fee, plus the mediator's fee charged by the session. Settling early costs less — and a mediated settlement is enforceable as a court decree under the Mediation Act, 2023. Use the calculator to estimate a matter in seconds, then see the full schedule below.

How Fees Are Structured

Three components, and an incentive to settle early

FEAM mediation is deliberately affordable. The registration and administrative fees are small and fixed; the only variable cost is the mediator's time, charged by the session — so a dispute that resolves quickly resolves cheaply.

01 · Registration

A flat filing fee

₹5,000 to register a mediation (₹3,000 on the subsidised MSME pre-litigation track). Paid once, on filing the Request for Mediation.

02 · Administrative

Two simple tiers

₹15,000 for disputes up to ₹50 lakh, ₹30,000 above. Reduced by 25% for early settlement, and to 50% for ODR proceedings.

03 · Mediator

Charged by the session

₹17,500 per 3-hour session. Co-mediation is billed at 1.5× the rate. Reduced to 75% for ODR proceedings.

Incentives, cost-sharing and what a settlement is worth

FEAM's fee design rewards early, good-faith resolution and keeps mediation open to smaller parties:

  • Settle early: a 25% reduction in the administrative fee where a Mediated Settlement Agreement is reached at or before the second session.
  • Mediate before you arbitrate: a 10% reduction in FEAM arbitration administrative fees where the parties first attempted FEAM mediation on the same dispute.
  • ODR proceedings: 50% administrative fee and 75% mediator fee — making online mediation the most cost-effective path.
  • MSME Fast-Track pause: the mediation pause within the MSME fast-track is provided free, as a FEAM community service.

Mediation costs — the administrative fee and the mediator's fee — are borne equally by the parties unless they agree otherwise or the settlement provides differently. A Mediated Settlement Agreement reached through FEAM is binding and enforceable as a court decree.

Legal basis — Rule M.15 (Section 25, Mediation Act 2023); Rule M.9 (Sections 20 & 27, Mediation Act 2023); Rule M.11 (Section 30, Mediation Act 2023)
